The athletes of the CALABARZON delegation filled the venue with energy, cheers, and anticipation as they gathered for the Concentration Enhancement Training entitled “Bagani ng Arena: Focus, Control, Courage” on May 15, 2026, at San Luis Integrated Senior High School within the Laguna Sports Complex in Brgy. Bubukal, Santa Cruz, Laguna, together with the Technical Working Group (TWG) from Campaign for Character Education Tenacity (CaChET), to not only train their bodies for competition but also to strengthen their minds and emotions as they prepare for the 2026 Palarong Pambansa.

The program commenced with the prayer led by Andrea Martine Tuiza, CaChET TWG, and was followed by the welcoming remarks of Principal Eduarda Zapanta, who emphasized the importance of mental preparedness and emotional stability among athletes competing at a high level.

Mr. Jeffrey Rosales, guest speaker of the workshop, opened the session with an activity titled “Pressure Check,” where athletes identified and shared the pressures they experience in training and competition, including fears of losing, mistakes, and facing strong opponents, as they gradually became more open in expressing emotions often hidden in sports, while facilitators encouraged participation by giving prizes to volunteers.

Mr. Rosales later introduced the B.E.A.T. Reset Method, (Breathe, Examine, Anchor, and Take the Next Play). Through breathing exercises and guided reflection, athletes learned how to manage emotions and regain focus during stressful situations in competitions. Participants were encouraged to identify controllable factors such as effort, discipline, body language, attitude, and self-talk instead of dwelling on mistakes or outcomes beyond their control.

The workshop became more interactive as the athletes were grouped into four discussion quadrants facilitated by different members of the organizing team. Inside each group, conversations became more personal and heartfelt. Athletes openly talked about emotional struggles, fear of failure, pressure to meet expectations, and the importance of support from teammates, coaches, trainers, and even family members.

Some participants shared how words of encouragement and calm communication greatly affect their confidence during competitions, while others reflected on the importance of trust and teamwork in overcoming challenges both inside and outside the playing field.

As the workshop came to a close, Mr. Rosales facilitated a short wrap-up session where athletes once again shared their realizations and reflections from the activity.

The program concluded with the closing remarks of Ms. Zapanta, who thanked the athletes, facilitators, organizers, and volunteers for contributing to the success of the activity. Afterwards, Mr. John Henry Labayne distributed certificates to the volunteers from the CaChET Technical Working Group in recognition of their dedication and support throughout the workshop.
