Futsal Strength & Conditioning for Coaches
On July 25–26, 2026, the CACHET 2-Day Workshop on Futsal Strength and Conditioning was held at Tanay Epic Parc. The workshop gathered 42 sports coaches and educators representing 24 schools across the National Capital Region (NCR) and Region IV-A (CALABARZON) to enhance their athletic preparation and strength training capabilities for youth players.
Led by Christian S. Dominguez, MS CSCS of the University of Asia and the Pacific, the workshop went beyond physical conditioning and technical skill development by placing strong emphasis on character formation, discipline, and tenacity—instilling in coaches the vital role sports plays in building ethical, well-rounded student-athletes.
Day One: Foundations of Athletic Development & Character Building (Cabin 1)
Day One focused on building the coaches' foundational understanding of futsal-specific bioenergetics, injury prevention, age-appropriate physical development, and value-oriented mentorship. Conducted inside Cabin 1, the session combined formal lectures with interactive practical demonstrations:
Character Building Talk & Orientation: Opening address emphasizing character formation, discipline, integrity, and mental tenacity as core pillars of youth sports development alongside physical training.
Lecture & Presentation: Understanding the physical demands of futsal, energy systems (speed vs. endurance balance), and Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD) principles for youth players aged 11 to 18.
Practical Sessions: Baseline movement assessment screening (squat, lunge, single-leg balance, and hip/shoulder mobility), fundamental bodyweight strength training exercises, and warm-up systems integrated with FIFA 11+ Kids concepts.
Day Two: Performance Application & Awarding Ceremony (Indoor Basketball / Futsal Court)
Day Two moved to the indoor Basketball/Futsal Court for an all-practical session where participants directly executed field-based movement, conditioning, and team-building exercises:
Morning Practical Sessions: Speed, agility, and change of direction (COD) drills including cutting mechanics, acceleration/deceleration, and reaction games. Coaches executed futsal-specific interval conditioning (small-sided 4v4 games, repeated sprint ability) while reinforcement of sportsmanship, leadership, and resilience during high-intensity play was highlighted.
Afternoon Awarding Ceremony: Having successfully completed all practical modules during the morning session, the workshop concluded after lunch at 3:00 PM with a formal awarding ceremony and the presentation of Certificates of Completion to all 42 participating coaches.
The CACHET Futsal Strength and Conditioning Workshop successfully equipped coaches across NCR and CALABARZON not only with scientific strength training techniques, but also with actionable strategies to lead character-driven sports programs. By combining physical excellence with moral and mental formation, the initiative continues to empower coaches to raise resilient, principled student-athletes. The joint efforts of APB Foundation, Inc., Bloomberry Cultural Foundation, Inc., and the University of Asia and the Pacific reaffirm their dedication to holistic coach education.
