CACHET READING BOOK CLUB HOLDS ITS FIRST-EVER TOWN HALL MEETING
Connecting Through Stories
By: Czarina Joy T. Cabardo
Books have long been powerful instruments of learning, imagination, and personal growth. They allow readers to explore new worlds, gain knowledge, reflect on life's experiences, and develop empathy. Whether in printed pages or digital formats, books continue to inspire people across generations, proving that the love for reading transcends time and technology.
Today, reading has become more accessible than ever. With the rise of e-books and digital platforms, stories can now be enjoyed anytime and anywhere—whether during a quiet morning with a cup of coffee or a relaxing evening before bedtime. While technology has transformed the way people read, it has not diminished the value of books. Instead, it has opened new opportunities for more learners to discover the joy and benefits of reading.
Beyond the stories themselves, reading creates connections. Every reader has a unique reason for picking up a book. Some seek adventure, others search for comfort, while many read to learn, grow, or simply escape into a different world. Despite these different motivations, one thing remains constant: a shared passion for reading.
Recognizing the power of books to bring people together, the CaCHET Reading Book Club was established to cultivate a culture of reading among learners while promoting character formation, perseverance, and meaningful conversations through literature.
On June 27, 2026, the club reached another milestone as it successfully conducted its first-ever Town Hall Meeting, hosted by Project Heads Juliana Christine Salonga and Xianne Kisha R. Hernandez. The gathering provided members with a welcoming space to share their reflections, insights, and personal experiences inspired by the books they had read.
During the session, participants exchanged ideas, discussed different perspectives, and reflected on how reading had influenced their understanding of various situations and life experiences. More than improving reading comprehension, the discussions encouraged critical thinking, strengthened communication skills, and fostered self-expression as members confidently shared their interpretations and viewpoints.
The Town Hall Meeting fostered meaningful connections among members by providing a space to share reflections, exchange ideas, and learn from one another’s experiences. Through these conversations, participants developed greater empathy, broadened their perspectives, and discovered how stories can inspire hope, resilience, and personal growth.
More than a gathering of book enthusiasts, the CaCHET Reading Book Club continues to promote a culture of reading, character formation, and lifelong learning. As the club grows, it encourages more learners to discover the transformative power of books and the lasting impact of sharing stories with others.
"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one."
— George R. R. Martin
